Barno is a graduate of West Point and holds a Master of Arts degree in International Security Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, and the Purple Heart.
