Early Life
Tom Seaver was born on November 17, 1944, in Fresno, California. His father was a truck driver and his mother was a homemaker. Seaver attended Fresno State University, where he played baseball for the Bulldogs. He was a two-time All-American and he led the Bulldogs to the College World Series in 1965.
Major League Career
Seaver was drafted by the New York Mets in the first round of the 1966 draft. He made his major league debut in 1967 and he quickly became one of the best pitchers in the game. Seaver was a dominant force on the mound and he helped lead the Mets to their first World Series championship in 1969. Seaver spent 12 seasons with the Mets and he was one of the most popular players in team history. He was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 1977 and he helped lead the Reds to the World Series championship in 1975. Seaver also pitched for the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox before retiring in 1986.
Post-Playing Career
After retiring from baseball, Seaver worked as a broadcaster for the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves. He was also a successful businessman and he owned several restaurants and car dealerships. Seaver was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992. He died on August 31, 2020, at the age of 75.

Tom Seaver was one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history. He was a dominant force on the mound and he helped lead his teams to multiple World Series championships.
