Equestrian sports have been a part of the Olympic Games since 1900. But should they continue to be? In this article, we make the case for dropping equestrian from the Olympics.

Animal Welfare Concerns

One of the biggest concerns about equestrian sports is the welfare of the animals involved. Horses are forced to perform unnatural movements, such as jumping over high fences and galloping around a track at high speeds. This can lead to a variety of injuries, including lameness, colic, and even death.

In addition, horses are often subjected to harsh training methods in Free Download to make them perform better. These methods can include beatings, starvation, and even electric shocks. This is not only cruel, but it can also lead to psychological problems in horses.

Cost

Equestrian sports are also very expensive. The cost of training a horse for the Olympics can easily exceed $100,000. This makes it very difficult for athletes from developing countries to compete in equestrian events.

In addition, the cost of hosting equestrian events at the Olympics is also very high. This is because equestrian events require a large amount of space and infrastructure, such as stables, arenas, and jumping courses.

Elitism

Equestrian sports are often seen as elitist. This is because they are traditionally associated with the wealthy and privileged classes. This can make it difficult for people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to participate in equestrian sports.

In addition, equestrian sports are often dominated by a small number of countries. For example, at the 2016 Olympics, the top three finishers in all three equestrian events were from European countries.

For all of these reasons, we believe that equestrian sports should be dropped from the Olympic Games. Equestrian sports are cruel to animals, expensive, elitist, and do not reflect the values of the Olympics.

We urge the International Olympic Committee to reconsider the inclusion of equestrian sports in the Olympic Games. We believe that there are many other sports that are more deserving of a place in the Olympics.
